The optional Bluetooth interface provides a wireless connection between the vehicle and Bluetooth-compatible mobile phones. The phones are operated via the hands-free kit, multifunction steering wheel, iDrive Controller or Voice Control depending on the equipment options of the individual vehicle. Your local BMW dealer will be happy to inform you about which mobile phone devices (and software versions) are compatible with the optional Bluetooth interface.

The cordless handset in the rear of the BMW 7 Series Sedan means you don't have to share private telephone conversations with other passengers*. By placing your SIM card, for example a Multi-SIM or a Twin Card, in the GSM snap-in adapter in the central armrest, you can access all of the telephone numbers that you use in your mobile phone. As an alternative to using your SIM card, you can connect your mobile phone via Bluetooth and access your mobile phone's contacts that way. All telephone calls are made using the external aerial to guarantee optimum reception. The integrated WLAN hotspot allows you to use the Internet with your smartphone, laptop or Apple iPad™ even during the journey. The only condition is a device with a WLAN interface.

How do you navigate through a library of 10,000 songs? Preferably on the road using the multifunction steering wheel or iDrive button. Almost all common MP3 players, USB sticks and iPods can be integrated effortlessly with the audio system. The title of the track being played is displayed either in iDrive or on the radio display. The internal hard drive operated via a USB 2.0 interface is integrated in the glove compartment, and players can be operated directly using the USB connection in the central console.
